Pan Fusion new on Crop Over calendar

Pan Fusion is new on the Crop Over calendar  and will be the most exhilarating steel pan event of the season, featuring a sumptuous blend of three musical forms, Jazz, Tuk and steel pan music played by three of the region’s foremost musicians.

Barbadian Sax player and heart throb Arturo Tappin leads the concert as he introduces his ingenious blend of Jazz and Tuk (Tuk - an indigenous form of Barbadian music derived from the colonial British Military Band mixed with the African slave drums) in what he has branded as ‘Tappin 2 Tuk’. Arturo has recorded with such greats as Luther Vandross and Roberta Flack and has headlined at Jazz Festivals across the globe. Barbadian pride dances with the hypnotic melodies played out on the penny whistle, laced with Arturo’s sax, as hearts pulsate with the rhythmic drum beat that has for centuries been a part of this island’s music history.

Steel pan virtuoso Liam Teague’s return to the shores of Barbados to appear in concert, has been long awaited. A break from his whirl-wind schedule of appearances is opportune and gifts the Crop Over season and his legion of fans with the delight of a performance from one of Trinidad and Tobago’s finest steel pan players ever. Teague has thrilled audiences in Europe, Asia, North and Central America and his performance in Barbados is guaranteed to inject greater excitement into Pan Fusion.

Victor Provost is distinguished as being one of a handful of pan players in the world who has incorporated a Bebop foundation into his playing, and arguably, the only one who has expounded on that vocabulary with a modern sensibility and style. Provost’s pedigree is without question, as he has shared the stage with such names as Bobby Thomas, Etienne Charles, Nicholas Payton and Ron Blake. The son of the Virgin Islands is set to make his mark in the Sweetest Summer Festival.

Seating for Pan Fusion is available at three (3) levels; VIP Tables, affording groups of eight persons attending the concert together, exclusive table  seating near the stage, Theatre/General seating and ‘Blanket’ seating, where as the name implies, patrons bring their blankets to lay out on the lawns in designated areas  to lie under the stars.

Special catering and champagne specials are available on the night but the main dish is without doubt the menu of irresistible musical delicacies performed by ‘Three The Pan Way’ Arturo Tappin, Liam Teague and Victor Provost.

Pan Fusion is on Thursday, July 14th  at 7 p.m at Ilaro Court, the residence of the Prime Minister of Barbados.

Tickets are available: VIP $800 per table of eight, $75 general seating and $50 Blanket seating.(PR)
