Redd Man on fire

Redd Man on fire

HE IS ONLY 16-years old but he wanted to be a Soca artiste even when he was much younger.

In fact, Rico Boyce sobriquet Redd Man wanted to start performing when he was still a student at the Alexandra School, that didn’t work out so he decided to make it a reality now that he is a student of the Barbados Community College.

But during those years he was writing and preparing for his debut which turned out to be at the third LIME/HOTT 95.3 FM Fantastic Four Cavalcade at Bayley’s in St. Philip. Visibly nervous he performed the self-penned Young Wuk, backed by the Adrenalin dancers and wearing a white shirt with his own designs.

The next night he was on stage at the Socaholic Kickoff at the Concorde Experience more confident and getting an encore.

“I felt great on stage, I was nervous but when I got on stage that went away,”  he said.

Rico is no stranger to the industry his father is noted Entertainment Entrepreneur Peter Boyce of PBoyce Ventures.

“I grew up going to the tents and seeing other people performing so I have an idea what to do, based on the good comments I am getting I think I will do well,” he added.

He is expected to judge for the Party Monarch competition which will be held at the Soca Royale at Bushy Park on Sunday, July 25 starting at 10:00 am. This season he will be appearing with the Celebration Time tent.

The track Young Wuk was produced by Underground Studios.
